September 2011 — Hands and Feet

There were a mere 10 entries for Hands and Feet, and only half of them included both hands and feet. When I learned that the assignment was “Hands and Feet”, my first thought was of my blacksmith. I spent a morning taking pictures of him trimming and shoeing horses.

The farrier has trimmed the hoof, and he is making sure the hoof is flat before he attaches the shoe.

After the hooves are trimmed with a draw-knife, they are filed to remove any rough edges.

This horse is having a shoe nailed on. I’ve been told how to blur the arm for motion but still keep the hammer in focus, and I’ll try that some time.

This is a fun picture for the assignment.
